Study on Evolution Mechanism of Structure-Type Rockburst: Insights from Discrete Element Modeling

Taking the “11.28” rockburst occurred in Jinping II Hydropower Station as engineering background, evolution mechanism of structure-type was studied detail based on particle flow code. The results indicate that failure includes a tensile fracture induced by tangential compressive stress and shear caused due to overburdened loadings slip structural plane. In addition, it is found differences between strainburst mainly include (a) distribution local concentrated zone after excavation, (b) mechanism, (c) locations. Finally, influence four factors are explored. show (1) when friction coefficient greater than 0.5, effect plane weakened, rock near excavation tends be intact, structural-type intensity decreases; (2) dissipated radiated energy reduces with rockmass heterogeneity m; (3) lateral pressure has significant deep failure, specifically form rapid growth dissipative energy; (4) more pronounced at length 90 mm.
